A Message from Orange County Mayor Richard T. Crotty Regarding the H1N1 Flu
Dear Traveler —
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has confirmed that there is no reason for the H1N1 flu strain to restrict or discourage people from traveling to and within the United States. The health and safety of our visitors, our employees and our residents is always this community's primary concern. Because Orlando is an international destination, our public agencies, our medical facilities and our tourism industry - including our attractions, hotels and airports - are well-equipped and prepared with plans to handle these types of situations. Our world-class attractions and facilities already employ rigorous sanitation standards and they remain vigilant with these efforts.
Specifically, the Orange County Health Department and the Office of Emergency Management work closely with the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau which plays an active role in disseminating the most current, accurate information and planning resources to our tourism community. And, I have asked that these groups remain in daily contact with one another with regards to H1N1 flu developments.
There are things you can do to further protect yourself from contracting this particular flu strain such as regular hand-washing and the use of hand-sanitizers. The CDC has provided this useful information on their web site at cdc.gov/swine flu.
Rest assured, there is a heightened sense of awareness to this situation throughout the Central Florida tourism community. We are taking the appropriate actions now and will continue to monitor the situation to further respond as needed.
We look forward to your visit to our area.
Abraços a todos,
